Sculptures, Drawings and Paintings

MARIAN CRAMER PROJECTS is delighted to present “Various dimensional schedules, other planning systems and somewhere else” by the American, Amsterdam-based artist, David Lindberg. For this solo exhibition Lindberg has created a new large-scale installation to be shown alongside recent drawings, sculptures and paintings.

Lindberg creates work for site-specific locations, using materials such as epoxy, foam and colored pigments. This way endowing an optimal combination of super lightweight and maximum strength. Inspiration for the work was the increased need for people to retreat into their own world, to find a quite place to sit and skype for instance, searching for traces of a lost presence. The “cabin” has a bench, t.v. and windows. He responds to the mood of surroundings by continuing a narrative that whispers through the epoxy walls. In this case the ‘leitmotif’ is the idea of the imaginary home. This installation is placed into the space to imply an imaginary home within the gallery, which is itself created within a home.

Whether using sculpture, paintings or drawings Lindberg, explores the nature of material, from its natural state to it’s altered state, creating in the process new and innovative works of art. His work is all about texture using epoxy resin to create a light transparency.

David Lindberg (born in Des Moines, USA, in 1964) received a MA in architecture from the Parsons School of Design in 1989. Recently Lindberg was commissioned a project at Europol Headquarters, The Hague, NL. Exhibiting internationally, with an upcoming show at Lewisham Art House in London in October 2011, Lindberg’s work is held in high profile collections such as Martin Z. Margulies, Studio La Citta Verona, ABN AMRO Collection, Cees Dam and many others. Recent solo, and group exhibitions include Outline Amsterdam and Caridi Gallery Miami, in 2010
